 Course description:
Screening and discussions of films from Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Germany. The course addresses ways in which filmmakers of these countries have used the medium of cinema to explore history, culture, politics, and social issues prevalent in their respective societies, starting with the World War II time and covering both the Communist and post-Communist periods.

The course is to run on Thursdays from 02/28/19 to 04/18/19. On the day of the classes, the films will be screened from 1:00PM to 3:30PM, followed by the film discussions and lectures from 4:00PM to 5:15PM.  For registration, the prospective students should call Sirina Nagi at 212 396-6775 or the school registrar office at (212) 650-3850.
