An opera full of poignancy and exquisite sensitivity to the nuances of growing up and wrestling to understand your emotions, Eugene Onegin is an inspiring vehicle for Kasper Holten's first production for The Royal Opera. Working with the Danish set designer Mia Stensgaard and fielding a brilliant cast (including Simon Keenlyside in the title role), Holten will provide a fresh reading of Tchaikovsky's classic.

Dramaturg Cori Ellison will be speaking as part of the pre-concert lecture series (begins at 1 pm). Ms. Ellison regularly appears as a commentator and Opera Quiz panelist on the Metropolitan Opera's radio broadcasts, and has been guest commentator on WNYC's Soundcheck and The Tristan Mysteries, WQXR's First Hearing>, and other radio programs. She has contributed articles to publications including the New York Times, Opera News, Gramophone, BBC Music, and Ms, and to books including The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, The Compleat Mozart, and the Metropolitan Opera Guide to Opera on Video.

She has also been a contributing writer for PBS's Metropolitan Opera Presents TV series. Additionally, she has served as Dramaturg with New York City Opera, Washington National Opera, and Opera Boston among others.
