A poetry reading by Valery Chereshnya

Please join us as the Russian American Cultural Center presents a poetry reading on May 14 via Zoom. Valery Chereshnya is the author of six books of poetry (“Own Time”, 1996; “Wasteland”, 1998; “Shift”, 1999; “Whisper of Akaki”, 2008; “Recognition”, 2018), and numerous publications in the journals “New World”, “October”, “Friendship of Peoples”, “Postscriptum”, etc.

Valery Chereshnya was born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1948, since 1968 he has been living in St. Petersburg and now in New York. He graduated from the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute of Communications, worked as an engineer at the enterprises of the city telephone network.

Author of six books of poetry (“Own Time”, 1996; “Wasteland”, 1998; “Shift”, 1999; “Whisper of Akaki”, 2008; “Recognition”, 2018) and numerous publications in the journals “New World”, “October”, “Friendship of Peoples”, “Postscriptum”, etc.

Валерий Черешня родился в Одессе в 1948 году, с 1968 года живёт в Санкт-Петербурге. Закончил Ленинградский электротехнический институт связи, работал инженером на предприятиях городской телефонной сети.

Автор шести поэтических книг («Своё время», 1996; «Пустырь», 1998; «Сдвиг», 1999; «Шёпот Акакия», 2008; «Узнавание», 2018; "Оттиск", 2022), книги эссе «Вид из себя» и многочисленных публикаций в журналах «Новый мир», «Октябрь», «Дружба народов», «Постскриптум» и пр.
